Other Soirées & Shindigs

Conventional southern etiquette says it’s not polite to ask a lady her age. So we’ll neither ask nor tell, but we do have to say that Cindy knows how to celebrate her birthday in style  with friends and family. Cindy’s event gives new meaning to “destination celebration” as she lives in Manhattan but chose Bjorvala Farms for her event venue to celebrate her birthday. Shout out to Cindy’s niece, Emma, who worked as junior party planner extraordinaire. With friends and family from both New York & Tennessee, a great time was had by all!

Andrew, former high school pitcher (and soon to be college pitcher this coming fall), chose to celebrate his recent graduation from high school with friends and family surrounded by precious memories of his years playing ball from four and a half years old to the present. From the quilt made from t-shirts, the cross made out of baseballs from his “childhood career”, the adorable pictures from toddler to young adult, it was clear that this graduation celebration was much more than just a pat-on-the-back, job-well-done kind of party. It was truly a send-off from his parents, sister, grandparents, and MANY relatives and friends who are so very proud of the young man he has become. Add a concessions stand and yummy “ballpark” food, perfect weather, and random pitching sessions… and you have the “pitch” perfect party. Congrats, Andrew! Enjoy your college experience!*!

So how did YOU spend World Bonsai Day? This year the day fell on the first day of the Knoxville Bonsai Society’s 2015 Spring Show on University of Tennessee’s School of Agriculture campus as part of the annual Blooms Day festival. Thanks to all who came out to see bonsai displayed by members of clubs throughout the Southeast! Festivities continued with dinner and camaraderie with club members at Bjorvala Farms Saturday evening and another day of “bonsai-ing” at Blooms Day on Sunday. We always enjoy a weekend spent with bonsai aficionados and enthusiasts!

There is nothing quite as special as a new baby – although a baby shower in anticipation of the arrival of that new baby runs a close second. Rachael & Shari threw the sweetest shower for Jessi and Nathan, and it felt like something straight out of an event in a little French village, complete with crepes, croquembouche (French creme puffs stacked in a conical shape), quiche, a rich assortment of cheeses and many other delicious goodies and beverages. Add family and friends and the most beautiful day ever (despite a forecast of 100% rain) and you have the perfect welcoming party for the precious baby girl who will shortly be making her grand entrance. Bjorvala Farms was so thrilled to be a part of this special event!
